Film number two was also chosen because it was on the TV which made things easier for me. However, unlike Bee Movie, this film – March of the Penguins – is one I’ve been wanting to view for quite sometime. Simply because I love penguins and have been interested in them for as long as I can remember.
March of the Penguins is a French-made Oscar-winning nature documentary following the epic journey the emperor penguins of Antarctica make each year in order to breed. The english version of the film is narrated by the soothing voice of Morgan Freeman which is just perfect.
The film truly is spectacular. I was aware of the harsh conditions these penguins had to endure but just how bad it is there and what they have to go through was eye-opening to me. Nature really is a harsh and unfair force and watching these penguins struggling through it and working together makes you really appreciate what wonderful creatures they really are.
The footage shot may not be up to the standards of the fantastic Planet Earth TV series but is still stunning and beautiful. Morgan Freeman does a great job of narrating the film and the story of the penguins epic journey truly is remarkable and emotional. Plus the baby penguins are just so adorable. Daww!
